Some artists make music. Others bleed for it. Monét Anaïs falls squarely in the second category.

Born in Orange County and now rooted in Los Angeles, Monét Anaïs isn’t just a singer—she’s a writer, actress, producer, and pure artist in every sense of the word. Her new single “Down,” a bold and flirtatious house/R&B rendition of Brandy’s “I Wanna Be Down,” dropped on July 11th—right on time for 7-Eleven’s iconic Free Slurpee Day, which Monét celebrated with a teaser video paying homage to summer, sweetness, and unfiltered self-expression.

“I’ve always known that my heart, mind, and soul belonged to art,” she says. “Whatever I do, I give it all of me.”

That authenticity pulses through her work. Monét’s previous single “Unconditional Love” broke into the iTunes Top 100, peaking at #56—a major moment for any independent artist. But her journey didn’t start there. She wrote her first screenplay at 10 years old. By 13, she was recording background vocals for children’s albums. In college at Loyola Marymount University, she earned a degree in screenwriting and music while performing in a cappella and dance groups, all while dreaming of something bigger.

Her new track “DOWN” isn’t just a nod to the past—it’s a conversation with it. Brandy’s original was about longing, being present for someone, and wanting to be seen. That sentiment hit especially hard for Monét, who recalls growing up in a conservative Christian-suburban environment where she often felt invisible. “I didn’t always get the guy,” she admits. “I was the girl next door, but the attention went to the girls with light skin and straight hair. I didn’t even have my first real boyfriend until college.”

The vulnerability in “DOWN” is layered with confidence. The track fuses sensual R&B melodies with upbeat house production—reflecting her personality: soft yet electric, soulful yet sharp. “I’m both worlds. I love the emotional side of R&B, but house music taps into my fun, preppy side.”

Beyond the studio, Monét is currently developing a web series and eyeing dream collaborations with artists like Dua Lipa, Ty Dolla $ign, Megan Thee Stallion, and Tate McRae. She balances her creative intensity with wellness rituals like Pilates, journaling, and solo travel. She’s fluent in English, learning French, and fluent in the art of self-reinvention.
