Tucked away in East Harlem, one special spot has been gaining popularity with music heads on Thursday nights.

WYNMAKESNOISE, the 25-year-old Filipino-American musician, also known as Wyn Avillas, is currently in residence at The Corner Lounge Bistro, 32 E 130th St, the same Harlem venue where Grammy-winning jazz vocalist Samara Joy hosts her crowd-drawing jam sessions.

With week one wrapping up, WYNMAKESNOISE is sounding up again—quickly becoming a New York City nightlife staple for crowds who prefer an intimate setting.

Performing alongside rising vocalist Yeni Walker, who mentioned Grammy-winner Tyla among her inspirations, WYNMAKESNOISE had the room vibing along with the sounds of his guitar and vocals.

The set brought the crowd even closer together during a cover of H.E.R.‘s “Best Part,” creating a space for the crowd to sing along with the rising stars.

The spontaneous singalong is what motivates WYNMAKESNOISE musically, bringing the artist and the listener together.

“An instant connection with the audience—getting the whole crowd to sing every word—it’s virtually unheard of during the first performance of a residency by an indie artist,” publicist Sara Alhariri told Bleed Magazine.

Alhariri is the founder of PR firm and talent agency Velvet Insider Entertainment (VIE). She is currently working with WYNMAKESNOISE on expanding his growing public presence.

“After the initial awe, you start to see that the intimacy was done with a purpose,” Alhariri added.

“Wyn personally thanked people in the crowd for attending—he hugged virtually everyone there.”

Notable audience members jammed on stage toward the end of the night, including vocalist Isis Poulose.

For an artist who has opened for Anderson .Paak, walked New York Fashion Week 3 times, and appeared in a film alongside Brian Tyree Henry—many say it’s refreshing to see such a down-to-earth connection between audience and creator.

So far, 1 more residency date is on the calendar: Thursday, April 30th, 7–10PM. Free entry—first come, first serve.

For New Yorkers looking for a fun way to kick off the weekend in the city, WYNMAKESNOISE is one to keep an eye on.
